How to Wear Buffalo Plaid (if You’re Not a Lumberjack)

Oh, buffalo plaid. How I heart thee. Anyone who knows me or follows me on Instagram knows how much I love this trendy red and black pattern. It’s not just for hunters and gatherers. I don’t know where this love came from, but it came hard and pretty much out of nowhere.  All of a sudden this pattern has become the go-to checkered flag for millennial hipsters everywhere.

While buffalo plaid has become kind of like the fashion equivalent to ketchup — it does on, and with, everything — there is such as bad plaid, and it’s easy to get carried away with the pattern so you end up rocking more Paul Bunyan vibes than fashionista ones.  Have no fear, you can wear buffalo plaid without looking like a lumberjack.

So these are some of my favorite ways to incorporate BP into my daily wardrobe without being over-the-top. It’s safe to say that I’m wearing it at least 3 days a week, lol.

  1. I’m kind of obsessed with buffalo plaid. I love it. You put together some great looks, and I totally rock a plaid shirt tied around my waist often.

  2. i love that the “grunge” look is coming back haha. the plaid shirt around the waist with the hat just shouts modern Blossom to me! you make it look so good! I had no idea the options available, and the way to my fashionista heart is to pair anything with a vest. i love the quilted vest over top!
Thanks so much for some new OOTD ideas!
