When we booked the Kauai part of our honeymoon, we knew we wanted to try something new and adventurous to match our other Kauai activities, and we found a winner in Skyline Eco Adventures. This company has 3 locations in Hawaii, and we were thrilled to enjoy the zipline experience on the lush garden island of Kauai.
Located a few miles outside of Poipu, we checked in at a beautiful storefront site in the upscale Shops at Kukui’ula. We filled out a few releases and forms, got weighed (yes, you MUST get weighed) and then maneuvered into our super secure though slightly unattractive harnesses. The things we do for safety, eh?
We had an absolute hoot with our guides who I am certain are moonlighting as stand-up comedians, and felt very reassured by them and their training when it came to our entertainment and ultimately, safety. The Kauai course has 8 zip lines, each with its own back story deep in Hawaiian culture. There is a 5-Line course that costs $99 US per person and takes 90 minutes or the 8-Line course which costs $139 US per person and lasts around 2.5 hours.
The 8-line course was ours to tackle, and we zipped across all but one line. Sometimes the wind can make it tough to complete the course, so instead of risking it we all repeated one of the lines. I was nervous for the first line because I wasn’t sure what kind of feeling it would give me – would my stomach drop like on a rollercoaster? Would there be some crazy pressure changes? The answer is no and no. It feels like you are floating across the sky… actually very calming, to me anyway 😉
After we completed the course, we were bussed back to the storefront and treated to a Hawaiian juice. I was pretty tired from being out in the sun, and my forearms were super sore from all the clenching that I wasn’t supposed to do haha. We ended up touring the shopping plaza and sitting down for an amazing lunch and well-deserved beer. As a heads up, you are basically out in the sun for 2+ hrs straight, so be sure to layer on the sunscreen and drink lots of water!
You can check out Skyline Eco Adventures for all the options 🙂 Want more Hawaii? Check out my top Maui Activities!
KELS IN KAUAI {TOP 3 ACTIVITIES} - Travel Mavens
[…] There’s no better way to take in the lush greenery of Kauai than by whipping across cable lines 200 ft above the ground. Skyline Eco Adventures has 3 locations in Hawaii, and we were thrilled to enjoy the zipline experience on Kauai. A few minutes outside of Poipu, the homebase is a very bright and clean storefront in lovely the Shops at Kukui’ula. There you get fitted for your harness and are then bussed about 10 minute away to the course. The guides are hilarious, and keep you safe and entertained. We went through the 8-line course (which took about 2 hours) and were able to complete all but one of the lines due to the wind. Instead, we repeated a line. Ziplining is awesome – you feel like you’re floating across the sky 🙂 Check out my full post here! […]

That looks like so much fun. I’ve always wanted to go zip lining. There are a few places near where I live and I hope to get to them one day.

I would LOVE to one day try a zipline. Although I am afraid of heights and have no upper body strength I still want to try it.. haha BUT, I may possibly chicken out before hand.

Amanda FontaineYou know, I thought I would be a lot more nervous about it but they do an awesome job of preparing you. It really feels more like you are floating than the stomach drop you get on a roller-coaster etc.

Kelsinwonderlandawesome thanks. 😀
