Switching Up the Caffeine Routine {Giveaway}

So, I’m pretty sure I’m in caffeine withdrawal. I didn’t have a cup of coffee this morning for the first time in at least 2 weeks and my head is POUNDING. Like jack-hammer in your face kind of pounding.  I’m also super jittery and twitchy.  While I’m sure Web MD could connect those things to a host of ungodly diseases, I’m going to stick with the idea that it’s related to my increased consumption of caffeine in the last two weeks (usually I’m one small cup a day, recently have been 2 or 3 large per day, yikes) and my untimely lack of a coffee this morning – solely because I’m out of almond milk, lol.

*Note: I’m actually not allowed to visit Web MD. My  family imposed a ban due to a acute mild case of internet paranoia. More on that another time.

That being said, I’ve decided to do an impromptu coffee cleanse.  *gasp*

Just over a month ago I got super sick and wasn’t able to eat or drink properly for nearly a week.  During that week I underwent an involuntary coffee detox. It was unpleasant at best. As I begin to regain my appetite, the one thing that I didn’t have a taste for was coffee. This made me sad, because I love coffee, but my body and my bank account were thrilled.  One day after not having coffee for two weeks I decided to have a cup – McDonald’s no less, which is considered coffee crack by me and my best friend – and my body WAS. ON. FIRE.

Like, whoa caffeine. Settle down. The next day, I marched directly into my closest David’s Tea and asked for some magic in a can to ease the transition.

The amount of tea I have in my house at any given time is kind of silly.  I think I have 10 partial cans/tins/bags/boxes going right now. Two of my cupboard staples are the Hot Lips Green Tea, and the Gold Rush White Tea which has just recently been discontinued. I went store to store to buy as much as I could, but no amount is enough when it’s your fave and no longer available 🙁

Anyhoo, I’m going to stay off of coffee for one week and replace my morning joe with a cup of tea.  Follow along with me and one lucky person will get to have some tea on me if they win my current contest!

  1. I like both but I’m mainly a tea drinker and what my go-to drink lately is an iced lavender tea.

  2. I’m a coffee drinker and a tea drinker! I love blueberry ginseng tea and several green teas and white teas. Earl Grey teas are my favourite though.

  3. I usually drink black teas, not too big of a coffee drinker. You can usually see me frequent a David’s Tea, Teavana or even the grocery store. I have a whole cupboard stocked with it! There’s two teas that top my list (from David’s Tea)….Sleigh ride (with hints of pineapple) and Dark Chocolate Delight (for those black tea mornings).

    1. Mmmm dark chocolate delight sounds awesome. There is one Teavana tea that i’m obsessed with but they only have at Christmas, I think it’s white chocolate peppermint. Either way, it’s nice to have a choice of teas from black to herbal!

  4. I love DavidsTea! I drink several cups of English Breakfast during the day and evening (what would I do without my tea?) but love to change it up from time to time with some of DavidsTea’s organic raspberry jam tea or lemon poundcake tea. So many fun flavours!

    1. You’re the 2nd person to mention the raspberry jam tea! I think I have to try it now 🙂 Thanks for reading!

  5. I am a tea drinker and I love peppermint as well as pink grapefruit from david’s and cold 911 for the sniffles!

    1. There is ALWAYS cold 911 tea in my house. I don’t love the flavour but I really think it works!

  6. I don’t enjoy coffee but i do love me some david’s tea. I particularly like Alpine Punch and Chocolate Rocket

    1. Ooh, yes! I tried the alpine punch over the holidays and was surprised how much I liked it because almond flavour isn’t really my jam. Thanks for reading!

  7. I can go both ways. I love coffee in the morning, but I love a good green tea, or peppermint or even roobois in the evening!

  8. I love smooth coffee, but I am CRAZY about tea. Going to Davids Tea is like a trip to a candy store as a little girl, but so much better. The teas all have so many healthy properties, not to mention the most amazing aromas and flavors. Just steeping my cup of Davids ‘Raspberry Jam’ fruit infusion herbal tea. Beautiful scent, sweet and slightly tart flavor.

    1. I love everything about this comment! I haven’t tried the Raspberry Jam, but it sounds awesome and I might have to get it this week! Thank you for reading and for your comment 🙂

    1. Me too! I have a lovely calming tea with valerian, peppermint and chamomile. It’s so soothing. (So is wine, lol)

    1. Ooh, that sounds lovely! I have a cinnamon green tea in rotation right now, but have never tried Jasmine. Will have to switch it up!

  9. Coffee is what I reach for in the morning! And I love Chai tea with a little bit of coconut milk for my mid morning pick-me-up.

  10. Oh, I love tea almost as much as I love coffee. My faves are English Breakfast Tea and Chamomile.

  11. I’ve never been a coffee drinker–didn’t like the way it tastes. Could I get used to it? Maybe…. but why? I’d rather get my caffeine from chocolate ☺️. I love tea, though–I just placed another David’s tea order last night.

      1. It’s too hard to pick ONE. Some favorites are Jasmine Black pearl, david’s breakfast tea, live wire lemon, and the skinny. It depends what I’m in the mood for.

        1. Ooh, I like the Livewire Lemon, too. I switch between that and electric lemondade. I haven’t tried the skinny yet, though I see it in a bunch of their gift packs. Thanks for reading!

  12. i love both but tend to drink more coffee. With teas I love to try different blends and flavours.David’s Tea has such a fantastic selection! My son bought me a David’s tea mug, perfect spoon and selection of teas for Mother’s Day!

    1. The perfect spoon is a great tool! I used to use way too much of the loose tea, now it lasts a lot longer and tastes better 🙂

  13. I am definitely both a coffee and tea drinker. During the winter, I tend to lean towards coffee and during the summer it’s iced tea!

    1. Oooh, iced tea, yes! My fave for that is the Electric Lemonade from David’s Tea – so yummy and a bit of an energy kick!

  14. I do both, Coffee in the morning and tea the rest of the day usually. I think I have about 12 different types of tea around right now. Coffee I have the same, Tea I switch it up depending on the day/my mood.

    1. Me too! Maybe that’s why I like tea so much – there is a different one for all times of day.
