Top 6 Activities to do in Kauai

Looking for outdoor Hawaiian adventures? From canyon hikes to helicopter rides (and a few waterfalls thrown in the mix) Kauai is the place for you. After 5 glorious days in Maui, we headed to Kauai for a more laid-back Aloha spirit. Kauai is lush, green, and wet. Really, really wet. Somehow I missed (in all my research) that Kauai is one of the wettest places on earth.  This is clear by the gorgeous greenery and rainforest vibes, however,  this impeded our trip a little because we were planning all outdoor activities. But, the awesome thing about Kauai is th[...]

5 Must-Do Activities on Maui

A nine-day trip to Hawaii doesn't seem like enough time to spend in paradise, especially if that trip is your honeymoon.  Our schedule (5 days on Maui and 4 days on Kauai) didn't leave a lot of room for flexibility when it came to pre-booked activities,  however, we crammed as much as we could into our first five days on the stunning island of Maui. Some of the events are more expensive than others (don't get me wrong, I would sell a kidney if it meant I could take a surf lesson every day for a week), but considering a number of these items can be considered[...]

The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa

beautiful beach maui

During my Hawaiian Honeymoon, my husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hyatt Regency Maui for one night before flying the next morning from Maui to Kauai.  We stayed in a condo in Kihei (about 45 minutes south of Kaanapali) for the first 5 days of our trip to enjoy a more local feel of the island, but opted to stay in a resort hotel for the last night to enjoy some luxury.  And luxurious it was, wow. This hotel is seriously like no other that I have stayed in before. Open air buildings, penguins (!), an on-site luau, and a pirate ship type pool with a[...]

Kels in Maui {Old Lahaina Luau}

A luau is like an immersion course in Hawaiian history, taking you back through decades of music, dance, culture and food.  This was the first thing we knew we had to do when planning our trip, but the options are really overwhelming.  Most of the larger resorts offer them on site and a few that run as a separate business.  The price ranges from $80 USD - $150 USD per person, so it’s best to do your research if you are on a budget.  We chose the Old Lahaina Luau based on recommendations from friends as well as our diligent research through Trip Advisor.re[...]

Kelsi in Kauai {Pondering on Poipu Beach}

I spent the last day of my Hawaiian honeymoon on the lonely shores of the Sheraton Hotel at Poipu beach.  I didn't think my husband and I would come back to this beach for a second time in the 4-day Kauai portion of our trip, but due to some unfortunate weather circumstances on the northeast side of the tiny garden island, we ventured south searching for a magical dry spot to enjoy our last moments in the (literal) sun. read more[...]

‘Mooning in Maui {Maui Surfer Girls}

I have wanted to learn to surf ever since I saw Blue Crush back in University. Yes, I know that must sound super cliché, but as a Canadian girl growing up with more snow than surf (well, zero surf) that movie was my first experience with the sun-soaked sexy and athletic world of surfing.   Ever since my husband and I started dating, I have been throwing out suggestions of vacation spots that could incorporate surfing.  He has slightly more experience than I having lived in Australia for a year, but was totally game to give it another go.  When we b[...]
