My Fave Lip Stuffs {Top Matte Liquid Lipsticks)

At one point I owned 43 lip products. 43. That. Is. Insane. The problem is, I love lip stuff. And I will purchase things without trying them first, which is a big no-no. Be fair to yourself and your wallet — always sample your lip products. Because while the color can be awesome, the formula –more often than not — is shit. This is what happens when you skimp out on your lip gear. Lately (since September 2015) I’m obsessed with matte lip color. Gloss is great, for certain events and day-to-day, but more often that not I need a lip that stays all day. And I mean, ALL DAY. Like, through two coffees, a cocktail and a pizza all day. So I’ve rounded up my absolute fave brands of matte liquid lipstick for you. Take a peek!

My Top 5 Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Killer Color

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: Lolita II ($24 CDN)

This is the only lip color in my purse right now. Though I think this will be my go-to for fall, I recently re-did my hair color to a beigey-blonde and this shade is the bomb for my skin tone. I’ve had other colors of this brand that didn’t work as well as I wanted them to, but this one does the trick.

Killer Formula

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick: Aria and Carina ($31 CDN)

Stila Stila Stay all day liquid lipstick

This brand was my first adventure in liquid lipstick. I bought the Aria shade (shown above) as fall color and ended up using it as my wedding lipstick. So much love for this formula as it stays all day (as per the name) and the tones to pick from really rocked my world. I own 7 of them. Carina is my summer color.

Killer Colour Selection

Too Faced Melted Mattes: Unicorn ($25 CDN)

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick

One day I decided to dye my hair purple. Then I walked to Sephora and bought this because I thought was a sign. It was. It effing was. Unicorn is my “ME” color. Some people hate it, but whatever. I love it. It makes me feel amazing. There are over 10 selections of color that really get me. Names include “Lady Balls” and “Child Star”. Check them out.

Killer Staying Power

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit: Candy K ($37 CDN)

Kylie Lipkit Candy K

Haters gonna keep hating on Kylie Jenner, and that’s fine. To each their own. I’m personally not a fan of her as a spokesperson, but man, am I a fan of her lip kits. I’ve heard rumors that they are the Colorpop cosmetics rebranded, but because we don’t have Colorpop in Canada, I can’t confirm. What I can confirm is how dynamite this formula is. I once had a little too much to drink and my hubby had to put me to bed (which I appreciate) and I woke up the next day after face sleeping in my pillow and this stuff WAS STILL ON. That might not be the healthiest option ever, but if you want to eat chicken wings with the boys while rocking a killer lip — this is your best shot.

Killer Trend

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick: Potion ($26 CDN)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Longwearing Liquid Lip

This makes me feel equal parts like I am a weirdo and like I am queen of the world. I applied this almost as a dare and wore it for a day. I received an unnerving amount of compliments on it which leads me to believe that it looked okay versus me looking like medusa. Jury is out on this being in the regular rotation, but if you want to feel like Beyonce for a day, this might be the trick. Bonus – It lasted through me eating a whole pizza!!

  1. I haven’t tried matte liquid lipstick yet, but I’m hoping to find a great shade for fall! Thanks for your reviews; I can’t wait to try a few of these!

    1. It’s really great if you remember to give your lips some TLC so they are not too dry. It also takes a little practice to apply because they dry so fast, but totally worth it once you get the hang of it!

    1. Don’t be scared 😉 A matte liquid lip might not be the best starting place for you, but maybe try a lipcolour balm instead like the NYX Butter Gloss. It’s super cheap and adds a nice pop of colour.

    1. Aw, thanks lol! The TooFaced pigments are pretty amazing, so I love them for summer statements! Thanks for reading 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’ve just recently taken the purple out of my hair and I miss it so much, lol. Thanks for reading! Let me know what mattes you try out 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! It takes some practice to make these guys look good, but worth it 🙂 Let me know if you end up trying some mattes!

    1. Thank you so much! I was nervous trying Potion, but it wasn’t that bad at all! A few stares from people in public but also a few compliments 🙂
