Unicorn Hair After 3 Weeks

It’s been 3 weeks since my purple-hair experiment, and I can finally say that I L-O-V-E my hair. I liked it straight out of the salon, though it was super dark and not what I was expecting, and I really liked it after a couple washes, but now I love it.  It has faded to the color and translucency that I was originally hoping for. Click continue reading to see the 3 different looks I’ve had with my Unicorn Hair 🙂

Day 1: Straight from the Salon

Final result! 🦄 It's darker than I originally wanted but am prepared for the quick fade out. Hopefully 3-4 washes to see the lightness come through a bit. Day 21: 3 weeks and 5 washes later

Unicorn Hair- 3 Washes Later... (1)

The photo on the left (google “dusty rose hair”) is one of the main photos I used as a reference at my salon.  My mom told me that it looked like me, lol.  So here I am on the right doing my best Instagram Model comparison shot; how’d I do?

The moral of this story is, do your research and then trust your stylist (if they are good at their job).

This took 3 weeks to get to a colour I wanted, $250, and 4 hrs in the salon.  That is definitely the cheaper, quicker version.  Some gals spend $600 and 8 hrs in the salon.  They are more likely to walk out with the exact shade and tone… and a LOT of future maintenance.

I’m having a lot of fun wearing my super bright purple/rose lipsticks with my hair – I find that the darker ones look better with the lighter version of my hair. Check out my Instagram posts above for the brand and colour I am wearing in each pic.

Have you ever dyed your hair a crazy color? What do you think of this Unicorn Hair/Pastel color craze?  Let me know in the comments!

Hey Kelsi. Did the stylist bleach your natural hair colour first?

Hi Georgia, yes, my stylist first did a balayage application and lifted my hair quite a lot. I chose not to do my whole head, and instead went with the highlights and ombré blonde look for the purple.
